ECHOPIXEL DEVELOPS TRUE 3D VIEWER THAT CONVERTS STANDARD 2D IMAGES TO INTERACTIVE 3D MODELS

EchoPixel recently announced FDA 510(k) clearance for its True3D Viewer that turns standard 2D images into 3D models that can be manipulated with a stylus within a virtual space. This is the first platform ever to reconstruct clinical imaging data into interactive, 3D virtual reality images.

This new technology provides doctors, students and even patients with relevant information about the human body by taking data from MRI and CT scans, as well as all imaging modalities with DICOM and displays them in eyeopening detail, popping out of the stereo display. The True3D Viewer brings standard 2D data to life, opening up the human body for an intimate look inside anatomical structures.

"We're taking virtual reality technology, the kind that's previously been restricted to entertainment, and applying it to medicine," said Sergio Aguirre, founder and CTO of EchoPixel. "This gives doctors a fully immersive, accurate representation of patient anatomy. The results we're seeing, from trials with real patient data, have confirmed the urgent need for this kind of imaging in medicine."
